If you have a false positive on a stool guaiac do you repeat the stool guaiac or proceed to colonoscopy?

I had the guaiac test after a night of vomiting and seeing blood in my stool also. It doesn't tell them if you have cancer it just lets them know there is blood in the stool. This can be from a number of things like, hemmoroids, diverticulitis, colitis...etc. They by chance did a colonoscopy on me and it came back I had stage 1 cancer in my decending colon. They took out 12 inches of the colon and stapled me back together. I had no symptoms except for this one night of sickness, which ended up being the flu. I too am a cancer survivor.
