Protection Dogs? WHY?????

many of these guys in shutzhund are total s, but that is true of any activity, there is a very very long tradition of keeping dogs for their ability to guard real property and chattels, and we should respect it for what it is. i would rather have a reliable dog than an alarm system any day, but that does not mean i want a furry killing machine either. it is all about balance. my old border collie was a great guard dog and kept troublemakers and varmints like oppossums and human theives out of my poultry flock for many years.
