Why are people trying to refute that English people are the descendants of Anglo-Saxons?

Whats the point? With names like that end in , man, ton, etc, its obvious english people descend from germanic speaking people. For instance my last name is Dayman, it is of Old English origins "Daegmund". There is no way in hell that the first people who had that name were anything but germanic.
