Which would be more $ savvy: making my own hemp dog collar or buying one?

I am out of the actual hemp string so i would need to buy that, a jump ring and a buckle of some sort for the collar, the leastexpensivee hemp dog collars i've seen online are 12.99 not including the shipping price. so, which method do you think would save me more $, making one myself or buying one? thanks for your opinion!
