Why do all the "good" schools have the least undergrad majors?

take vanderbilt and northwestern for example. i dont see how any of their majors are useful. northwestern especially has mostly music and stuff and i just dont understand how theyre so prestigious. is it bc you can take whatever in undergrad and then just pursue something specific in grad school?
